Baking Soda Volcano

Supplies

  • Baking soda
  • White vinegar
  • Dish soap
  • Food coloring
  • Small cup or bottle
  • Tray or baking dish
  • Spoon

Instructions

  1. Place the cup in the center of the tray.
  2. Add 3 tablespoons baking soda, a squeeze of dish soap and 2–3 drops food coloring.
  3. Have children predict what will happen.
  4. Slowly pour in about 1/3 cup vinegar.
  5. Repeat with different color combinations.

Safety and setup notes

  • Do this on a washable surface. Never seal the container.
